West York Boys Club Basketball
The West York Boys Club offers basketball programs for students residing in the West York Area School District grades 1-8.
Our Basketball Programs
1st and 2nd Grade Co-ed Intramural Program
This program is for boys and girls in first and second grade. It is an in-house instructional program that concentrates on basic fundamentals and introducing the players to organized basketball. This program begins after school resumes in January and runs 2 nights a week for 8 consecutive weeks. After the first week of practice the players are separated into evenly skilled teams. Once separated into teams, the format changes to that of a half hour practice followed by a 40 minute game. Registration for this program is generally in late November - early December.
3rd through 6th Grade Travel Basketball Program
This program is for boys and girls in third through sixth grade. It is not a co-ed program. This a competitive program that requires try-outs. The age groups are broken down into 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade for both boys and girls. We currently play in 2 basketball leagues in York County. Our top two teams in each age bracket play in the York / Adams Youth Basketball League A and B leagues. Any players that are night assigned to the top two teams for their age bracket play in the York County Youth Basketball Athletic Association (YCBAA) league. Both the York / Adams and YCBAA leagues are "travel" leagues that require travel to local schools in York and Adams Counties. Registration for this age level is in September each year and tryouts are in the beginning of October. The season begins in November and runs through mid-February.
Registration for the 2022-2023 Basketball season will be August 29 - September 22
7th and 8th Grade Travel Basketball Program
This program is offered to 7th and 8th grade boys. These teams generally play in the York / Adams league A and B league. Registration for these teams follow the West York Middle School Basketball tryouts.
